The Saraswati Vidyalaya Union was founded in the year 1919. It had a humble beginning in 1918 when a few enthusiastic ladies came forward to impart free education to the children of the South Indian Community.
From then onwards, it has risen to its present stature and today has acquired under its administration a Primary School, a High School, a Junior College and a Senior College catering to educating boys and girls in English medium.
The management is also conducting an English Medium Private Kindergarten School in a breakup of two years. The Kindergarten is accommodated in the Primary Building. For Admission to the Lower K.G. a child must be in the age group of three and a half to four years.
The School is a co-educational institution and is secular in character and caters to the educational needs of all children irrespective of caste, community , religion or region
Our Objective
To provide endow, maintain, control and manage the Saraswati Vidyalaya Union High School, Pre-Primary and Primary School and other educational institutions such as Libraries, Study and/or Training Centers and to do all acts and things necessary for or conducive to the promotion of secular education in the above said schools and institutions and for that purpose to start, establish, acquire, organize, conduct, maintain and manage Branch Schools, reading rooms, Libraries, Laboratories, Gymnasiums, Hostels and the like in order to train the children as ideal citizens of the country.
Our AIM
To promote education, knowledge and culture primarily among the linguistic minority group comprising people whose mother-tongue is Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada or Telgu and who are residents or domiciled in the city of Pune and its suburbs, by establishing, maintaining and administering Pre-Primary, Primary, and Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools and Colleges in Pune and its suburbs.
- To bring out magazines and issue pamphlets to carry on propagation of education and to further the aims and objects of the Union by lectures and other appropriate means.
- Generally to do all such other lawful acts, deeds or things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of any or all of the above aims and objects of the Union.
Management
The affairs of the S. V. Union are looked after by a Managing Committee elected by the General body of the Union. The internal administration of the Junior College, High School and Primary School is handled by the School Committee and the Academic Council. The management is also running an English Medium Co-Educational Evening College for B. Com. , Junior College (Std. XI and XII) , High School (Std. V to X) and Primary Section (Std. I to IV) and Tamil Medium.
